The Menelaus blue morpho (Morpho menelaus) has iridescent wings due to structural color rather than pigment. The wings of the blue morpho have nano scales, which refract light. The blue wavelengths of light interfere with each other constructively to create a bright reflection.

The monarch butterfly has a Müllerian mimic, the viceroy butterfly. Both species are unpalatable and act in tandem to deter predators.
